Northern Territory Police have charged a 22-year-old woman following an alleged armed robbery and stabbing incident in the Darwin suburb of Nightcliff.

Police received multiple emergency reports at approximately 10:55am on Friday, 6 November, concerning a woman allegedly carrying a weapon along Progress Drive. Emergency services were alerted after members of the public reported suspicious and threatening behaviour in the area.

According to police, a 64-year-old man was allegedly attacked with a pair of scissors while waiting at a bus stop on Progress Drive. During the incident, the man suffered cuts to his hands and his bag was reportedly stolen.

The injured man received medical treatment at the scene. Police later located his bag discarded a short distance from the location where the alleged attack occurred.

Around the same time, another man attended Casuarina Police Station and reported a separate concerning encounter. He told police that a woman carrying an edged weapon had allegedly attempted to stop his vehicle. Fortunately, the second man did not sustain any physical injuries.

Following the reports, multiple police units responded to the area and began investigating the circumstances surrounding both incidents.

Investigators examined available CCTV footage as part of their inquiries. The footage helped police identify a potential suspect and establish a connection to a residential property on Boetdoemba Street.

Police subsequently attended the property and arrested a 22-year-old woman.

The woman has been formally charged with four offences: aggravated assault, theft, possessing an offensive weapon and interfering with a vehicle.

Authorities confirmed that the accused woman has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear before court on Monday, 9 November 2026.

The incidents have raised concerns among residents about public safety in the Nightcliff area, particularly around public transport locations and busy suburban roads.

Police investigations have focused on establishing the sequence of events, examining the reported encounters and gathering evidence relating to the allegations.

The incident also highlights the importance of reporting threatening behaviour and contacting emergency services when a person is believed to be carrying a dangerous weapon in a public place.

Anyone who witnessed the incidents or has relevant CCTV or dashcam footage may assist investigators by providing information to Northern Territory Police.

The investigation is ongoing. The charges are allegations, and the accused woman is entitled to the presumption of innocence unless proven guilty in court.
