Emergency services were called to a home on Chambers Avenue in Bondi Beach at about 5:15pm on Saturday, 19 September 2026, following reports of a stabbing.

NSW Police and paramedics attended the residence and found a woman in her 90s suffering significant injuries. Paramedics treated her at the scene, but she died despite emergency medical efforts.

Police arrested a 47-year-old man at the scene. He was taken to Surry Hills Police Station, where inquiries are continuing.

A crime scene has been established at the Bondi Beach property as detectives investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman's death. Officers are expected to examine the location and gather evidence as part of the investigation.

Police are appealing for information from anyone who may have witnessed events in the area around the time of the incident. Investigators are also asking anyone who may have relevant dashcam or mobile-phone footage to come forward.

The incident occurred on the same day as a separate fatal stabbing investigation in the wider NSW region involving a 23-year-old woman in Kooringal, near Wagga Wagga. The two incidents are being investigated separately.

The Bondi Beach investigation remains active, and further information may be released as detectives establish the circumstances leading to the woman's death.

The 47-year-old man's arrest does not establish criminal responsibility. Any allegations arising from the investigation will need to be dealt with through the NSW justice system, and the accused is entitled to the presumption of innocence unless proven guilty.

Police have urged anyone with information about the Bondi Beach incident, particularly people who were in the area at the relevant time, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
