More than a month after the incident, investigators have released CCTV images of two males they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries. Police are asking members of the public who recognise the people shown in the footage, or who may have relevant CCTV or dashcam recordings, to come forward.
The first person is described by police as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander appearance, aged approximately 18 to 19 years old. He is described as having a thin build, standing approximately 160 to 170 centimetres tall and having short, well-kept dark hair. At the time, he was reportedly wearing a black hooded jumper, off-white tracksuit pants with a black drawstring and dark runners with white soles.
The second person is described as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander appearance and aged approximately 17 to 18 years old. Police describe him as having a thin build and being approximately 170 to 180 centimetres tall. He reportedly had longer dark hair tied in a bun or ponytail and unshaven facial hair. He was wearing a two-tone royal-blue and light-blue hooded jacket, dark track pants and black runners.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal stabbing. Police have urged anyone who was in the Waterloo area around the relevant time and may have captured useful footage to contact investigators.
Members of the public can provide information to Mascot Police Station or Crime Stoppers. Police have specifically asked people not to submit information through NSW Police social-media pages.
