Known publicly as the “Balenciaga bikie”, Comanchero figure Tarek Zahed has faced court after a violent confrontation with a security guard outside a Melbourne nightclub. The incident occurred outside The George on Collins in August 2025, where CCTV footage captured Zahed pushing a 63-year-old security guard, causing him to fall to the ground.
Zahed, aged 47, pleaded guilty to the assault. Melbourne Magistrates’ Court heard that the incident began after a disagreement with the venue’s security staff. His lawyer told the court that Zahed reacted after believing a comment made by the guard was connected to his previous injuries from a 2022 shooting that left him with serious injuries and resulted in the death of his brother.
Magistrate Gerard Lethbridge criticised Zahed’s actions, telling him that responding with violence over a comment was unacceptable and warning him that failing to change his behaviour could lead to further imprisonment.
At the time of the assault, Zahed was reportedly on parole in New South Wales. The incident resulted in his parole being revoked, leading to additional time in custody. The court ultimately convicted him and imposed a fine.
Zahed has a long history of involvement with organised crime investigations and has been described by authorities and media as a senior figure associated with the Comanchero outlaw motorcycle gang. Police have previously monitored tensions within and between motorcycle clubs involving high-profile figures.
The case comes amid broader concerns about organised crime and violence linked to Melbourne’s nightlife sector, with Victorian police conducting operations targeting alleged criminal networks involved in threats, assaults and attacks on hospitality venues.
