Australian quantum computing companies have secured major support from the United States as the Trump administration pours billions into next-generation technology development. Australian-linked quantum computing firms including Psi Quantum and Diraq have received a major boost after the Trump administration announced a multi-billion-dollar investment program aimed at accelerating quantum technology and semiconductor supply chains. The initiative includes grants and equity investments in several leading quantum companies, with Australian-founded firms among the beneficiaries. Industry leaders described the move as a major endorsement of Australia’s growing reputation in advanced quantum research and commercialisation. The funding announcement builds on Australia’s own substantial investment in the sector, including nearly A$1 billion committed by the federal and Queensland governments to support Psi Quantum’s planned fault-tolerant quantum computer project in Brisbane. Experts say the US backing strengthens Australia’s position as a significant player in the global race to develop commercially viable quantum computing technology for defence, artificial intelligence, logistics and scientific research.
