Former Scotch Oakburn College dux and medical student Xavier Nesbit is set to face a jury trial in Launceston over a series of alleged fraud-related offences after plea negotiations failed. Prosecutors allege the 19-year-old forged an Australian Strength and Conditioning Certificate in 2025 and sent the fraudulent document to an accrediting body in an attempt to harm the professional standing of his former swimming coach. Nesbit is also accused of producing fake character references in a separate attempt to influence sentencing proceedings. The Supreme Court matter is expected to return in August as preparations begin for trial.
