A Victorian court has jailed Dominic Green-Scott, a member of the Mongols Motorcycle Club, over a brutal attack on two strangers in Wendouree, Ballarat. The court heard the assault was unprovoked and caused severe injuries to one victim.
The incident occurred on 16 October 2023 when Green-Scott approached a property in Wendouree where a man and woman, who were not known to him, were present. The court heard he punched the woman before attacking the man with a metal pole and hammer, repeatedly striking him and causing serious head injuries.
The male victim suffered life-threatening injuries and required emergency treatment, including intensive medical care and surgery. The court heard the victim continues to experience physical and emotional impacts from the attack.
During sentencing proceedings, the court was told Green-Scott had been heavily affected by drug use at the time of the offending. A judge also considered his difficult upbringing and history of violence but noted that he remained responsible for his actions.
Green-Scott had previously faced firearms-related offending, including possession of sawn-off rifles. He pleaded guilty to serious assault-related charges and firearms offences.
The court described the attack as irrational and extremely violent, while the victim’s statement highlighted the long-lasting trauma caused by the incident.
The sentencing comes amid wider concerns around violence linked to outlaw motorcycle gangs in Australia, with courts continuing to impose significant penalties for serious assaults and organised crime-related offending.
