South Australia Police have reported a high-range drink-driving offence in Mount Gambier as part of ongoing road-safety enforcement across the Limestone Coast.

Police said a driver was stopped in Mount Gambier and underwent a roadside breath test. The driver returned a high-range alcohol reading and was subsequently dealt with by police.

As a result of the offence, the driver lost both their vehicle and their licence. Police are continuing to target dangerous driving behaviours as part of broader efforts to reduce serious injuries and fatalities on South Australian roads.

The Mount Gambier incident comes during Operation High Impact F5, a South Australia Police road-safety operation targeting the so-called “Fatal Five” behaviours. The operation focuses on speeding, drink and drug driving, dangerous driving, failing to wear seatbelts and driver distraction.

Police conducted the statewide operation between 7 and 16 August, with enforcement activity continuing to highlight the risks associated with dangerous road behaviour.

Authorities continue to encourage motorists across the Limestone Coast to make responsible decisions before getting behind the wheel. Drink driving can significantly affect reaction times, judgement and vehicle control, increasing the risk of serious crashes.

The latest Mount Gambier incident demonstrates that police continue to actively monitor local roads and take enforcement action when motorists are detected driving under the influence of alcohol.

South Australia Police published the Mount Gambier drink-driving report at 7:00am on 20 August 2026, making it a verified local story for today.
