Northern Territory Police Force are searching for a man accused of seriously assaulting an elderly woman inside her home in Palmerston, near Darwin. Police allege the woman, aged in her 80s, was alone at her property in the suburb of Woodroffe on Wednesday night when an unknown man entered through the front door at about 8:50pm before assaulting her and fleeing the scene. Detectives from the Se* Crimes Unit say the suspect is believed to be of Aboriginal appearance, with a tall and slim build and wavy hair. At the time, he was reportedly wearing a light-coloured top, dark shorts and thongs. Officers have been conducting CCTV checks throughout the area and are urging anyone with information to contact police immediately. Northern Territory Attorney-General Marie-Clare Boothby condemned the alleged attack, describing it as “absolutely disgusting” and calling for the offender to be located and brought before the courts.
