A major search operation is underway in Toowoomba for missing woman Jana Armstrong, with police and her family appealing to the public for information about her whereabouts.
Jana Armstrong, aged 30, was reported missing from the Newtown area of Toowoomba on Wednesday, after she was last seen at a property on Gordon Avenue. Police said her disappearance was unusual and raised concerns for her safety.
Her vehicle, a white Hyundai Kona, was located near the intersection of Jellicoe Street and Gordon Avenue at approximately 6am on Wednesday morning. The discovery of her abandoned vehicle increased concerns for her welfare and prompted further searches by authorities.
Queensland Police, supported by the State Emergency Service (SES), have been conducting searches in areas around Newtown as investigators attempt to locate Jana and establish what happened. Police forensic officers have also been involved as part of ongoing inquiries.
Jana’s family has described her as a loving and caring person and has made a public appeal for anyone with information to come forward. They have urged residents in the Toowoomba area to check whether they may have seen anything unusual that could assist investigators.
Police have released details about Jana to assist with the search. She is described as approximately 165cm tall, with an average build, brown hair and blue eyes. At the time she was last seen, she was wearing a green and white striped shirt, jeans and thongs.
Authorities are asking anyone who may have seen Jana, her vehicle, or any suspicious activity around the Newtown, Gordon Avenue or surrounding areas to contact Queensland Police.
The search has attracted significant community attention, with local residents and emergency services assisting where possible. Police continue to investigate all available information while prioritising efforts to locate Jana safely.
