ACT Policing is seeking witnesses following an alleged assault at the City bus interchange on Alinga Street in Canberra earlier this month. Police published the appeal at 2:13pm on Monday, 31 August 2026, asking members of the public who witnessed the incident or assisted the alleged victim to come forward.

According to police, the incident occurred at approximately 7:40pm on Saturday, 15 August 2026, near the Platform 4 bus stop at the City bus interchange. Police allege that a group of young females approached a young girl before the girl was pushed from behind and punched.

Police believe several members of the public witnessed what happened and intervened during the alleged assault. Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with people who stepped in to assist the girl or may have seen the events immediately before or after the alleged incident.

ACT Policing is also seeking mobile-phone footage or other video recordings that may have captured the incident. Investigators are asking anyone who was at the bus interchange around the relevant time to check whether they recorded anything that could assist the investigation.
