A 34-year-old man has been charged following a police investigation into the alleged supply of prohibited drugs in Sydney’s north-west, according to a report released by the New South Wales Police Force on 15 October 2026.

Police said the investigation began in July 2026, when officers from the Region Enforcement Squad, Central Metropolitan Region South, started examining suspected drug sales allegedly advertised through posters in the Miranda area. Following inquiries, investigators arrested the man at approximately 10:40 am on Wednesday, 14 October, on March Street in Richmond.

A short time after the arrest, officers executed a search warrant at a residential property on Terrace Road in North Richmond. During the search, police allegedly located and seized 138 grams of dried mushrooms and 749 grams of fresh mushrooms. The substances were taken for investigation. The police statement did not identify the specific chemical contents of the seized mushrooms or provide further details about how the alleged sales were arranged.

The man was taken to Windsor Police Station, where he was charged with four offences: one count of supplying a prohibited drug in a quantity greater than a large commercial quantity, and three counts of supplying a prohibited drug in a quantity greater than a commercial quantity.

These are serious allegations relating to drug supply. However, the exact legal classification of the substances and the alleged quantities will be matters for the legal process. The police release did not state that the man had been convicted of any offence.

Police said the man was refused bail and was due to appear before Penrith Local Court on Thursday, 15 October 2026. The investigation follows several months of inquiries into suspected drug sales. Police have not provided further public details about whether additional people are being investigated, whether the seized mushrooms are connected to other alleged sales, or whether further arrests are expected.

The case highlights the role of targeted investigations in responding to suspected drug distribution. Search warrants and the seizure of suspected substances allow investigators to gather evidence that can be examined as proceedings progress. The allegations remain before the courts, and the accused is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
