Police are investigating an alleged early-morning break-in and assault at Luna Park in Sydney after a security guard was reportedly attacked while confronting a group that had entered the amusement park without permission.

The incident allegedly occurred at about 1:30am on Thursday, 27 August 2026, when a group of approximately five people entered the Luna Park premises. According to reports, the group was confronted by a 39-year-old security guard who attempted to stop them and asked them to leave the property.

Police allege the situation escalated when members of the group assaulted the security guard. The guard was reportedly injured during the confrontation and required medical attention. He was later taken to hospital for further treatment.

Following the alleged assault, the group left the Luna Park area. Police were notified and began investigating the incident, including efforts to identify the people believed to have been involved.

A 21-year-old man was subsequently arrested near Circular Quay in connection with the investigation. Police took him into custody and he remained under police guard as inquiries continued.
