South-east Queensland to stay mostly dry and bright, with isolated coastal showers near the Gold Coast as a stronger southern cold front develops across Australia.

Queensland is expected to enjoy mostly sunny and stable conditions through Saturday, with cool inland morning temperatures and dry weather across much of the state. Isolated afternoon showers may develop around the Gold Coast, Coolangatta, Surfers Paradise and Stradbroke Island, while Brisbane is forecast to remain dry with a top temperature of 25°C. Nationally, a strengthening cold front moving through southern Australia is set to bring rain to inland Western Australia, western South Australia and southern parts of the Northern Territory before expanding further east into early next week. High pressure systems will keep much of south-eastern Australia settled for now, although showers are expected to continue along the New South Wales coast.
