A major power outage affected the Townsville region on Friday, 14 August 2026, temporarily leaving 18,803 homes and businesses without electricity. The outage covered a wide area of the region, extending from areas around Ravenswood and Giru through to Rasmussen and West End.

The widespread interruption affected numerous Townsville suburbs and surrounding communities. Areas initially reported as being without power included Annandale, Burdell, Douglas, Garbutt, Gulliver, Hyde Park, Idalia, Mundingburra, South Townsville, Townsville City, West End, Wulguru and several other locations across the region.

Communities including Alligator Creek, Cape Cleveland, Cungulla, Mount Stuart, Nome, Oonoonba, Railway Estate, Rosslea, Stuart and Woodstock were among the locations listed as affected during the incident.
