Central Coast Council is calling on young people aged between 14 and 24 to volunteer at upcoming Coast Swap community clothes-swap events.
The initiative is designed to encourage residents to reuse clothing rather than sending unwanted garments to landfill. Community clothes swaps provide an opportunity for people to exchange items they no longer need while finding something new to wear without purchasing new clothing.
The upcoming events will be held at San Remo Neighbourhood Centre and are expected to provide a practical way for young people to become involved in sustainability activities within their local community.
Volunteers will help with the organisation and operation of the events. Their responsibilities may include assisting participants, helping manage clothing donations and exchanges, preparing the venue and supporting the smooth running of the community activity.
The program provides young volunteers with an opportunity to contribute to environmental sustainability while developing practical community and event-management skills.
