Wave energy company Wave X is fabricating a new pilot renewable energy project set to be deployed in King George Sound near Albany, with community information sessions planned to explain the technology and its local impact. The project aims to generate up to three megawatts of electricity by capturing wave motion through a floating energy conversion system. Backed by research partnerships and growing interest in marine renewable energy, the initiative is expected to contribute to Western Australia’s clean energy transition while strengthening Albany’s role as an emerging hub for wave energy innovation.
