Weather warnings have been issued across Australia’s south-east coast as large swells and hazardous surf conditions develop following days of persistent wet weather. Authorities have warned of damaging surf and potential coastal erosion from the Sunshine Coast down to Coolangatta and into northern New South Wales.
The Bureau of Meteorology has identified several affected areas in Queensland, including Gold Coast, Noosa Heads, and Moreton Island, while in New South Wales locations such as Byron Bay, Ballina, and Yamba are also under alert. Residents and visitors are strongly advised to stay out of the water due to dangerous conditions.
The severe surf follows a week of unsettled weather along the east coast, with conditions expected to gradually ease over the weekend.
