One of the major additions is Studio 360, a new music and performing arts centre featuring soundproofed instrumental music rooms, a raised stage, dressing rooms and a large foyer that can be used for classes and major events.
A new visual arts centre has also been created, providing spaces for student exhibitions as well as multimedia and green-screen facilities. These facilities are designed to give students access to technology used in Queensland's creative arts and film industries.
The expansion also includes an industrial technology and design centre. Students will be able to develop skills ranging from engineering to furnishing, with access to 3D design software, laser-cutting equipment and industry-standard machinery.
Five new laboratories have been delivered as part of the project, along with a gymnasium and a hospitality kitchen. The kitchen will support students developing practical hospitality skills through the school's café and restaurant.
In total, the project has delivered 36 new learning areas. These facilities will benefit not only Palmview State Secondary College but also adjoining Palmview State Primary and Palmview State Special Schools, as well as other local schools and the wider community.
The expansion comes as the Palmview area continues to grow, creating increasing demand for education infrastructure and modern facilities for local families.
Queensland Education Minister John-Paul Langbroek said the project would provide modern learning environments and expand educational opportunities for local students.
The school's principal also highlighted the wider community benefits of the new facilities, particularly the purpose-built performing and creative arts precinct.
The new campus facilities are designed to support a broad range of subjects and skills, from science and technology to creative arts, engineering and hospitality.
The investment represents a significant addition to education infrastructure on the Sunshine Coast and provides students with access to facilities designed around contemporary learning and vocational skills.
