One of the major interactive attractions will be Giant Sing Along, which will feature 32 microphones and allow audiences to participate in a large community singing experience. The program will include songs ranging from classic soul tracks to contemporary favourites.
Families will also have a major role in the Festival Village program. Activities include children's performances, creative workshops, contemporary circus and opportunities to explore First Nations storytelling through performance.
A dedicated Family Fun Day is scheduled for Sunday, 20 September, bringing together performances, workshops and activities for younger visitors and families.
The Festival Village will also feature a range of dance workshops, including Bollywood, belly dancing, hip hop, Latin and line dancing. Circus, puppetry, visual arts and Queensland Ballet workshops will add further opportunities for visitors to participate rather than simply watch performances.
At night, the precinct will shift towards live entertainment. The Magic Mirrors Spiegeltent will host productions including The Choir of Man, Opera Queensland's Are You Lonesome Tonight and The Listies: This Show is a Joke.
Another major feature will be Bright Nights by ANZ, featuring fountains, waterscreens, lasers and water jets accompanied by a soundtrack created for the festival.
The South Bank location will also provide a major viewing opportunity for Riverfire by Australian Retirement Trust, after which entertainment will continue with music, DJs, Giant Sing Along and Bright Nights.
Most Festival Village activities will be free, while selected workshops will require advance registration.
