The New South Wales government has provisionally approved the Copi Mineral Sands Project, a major rare earths and mineral sands mine planned near the Victoria–NSW border. The project, led by RZ Resources, is expected to process up to 27 million tonnes of material over 18 years and supply minerals used in electric vehicles, wind turbines, telecommunications and defence industries.
