NSW Police have launched an appeal for public assistance to help locate a woman reported missing from the Lake Illawarra region, as concerns grow for her safety and wellbeing. Police are asking members of the community to provide any information that may assist investigators in finding Ellen Lindquist, who has not been located since she was last seen earlier this month.

Ellen Lindquist, aged 30, was last seen on Godson Way, Wongawilli, on Thursday 9 July 2026. Officers from the Lake Illawarra Police District were notified on Thursday 16 July 2026 and immediately commenced inquiries into her whereabouts. Police have expressed concerns for Ellen’s welfare and are urging anyone who may have seen her or knows where she may be to come forward.

Police have released a description of Ellen to assist the public. She is described as being of Caucasian appearance, approximately 168 centimetres tall, with a medium build and short black hair. Authorities have also advised that she is known to frequent areas including Wollongong and Jelly Bean Park in Nowra.

Missing person investigations rely heavily on information from the community, particularly when a person may have travelled to locations outside their usual area. Police are encouraging residents, businesses and anyone who may have noticed suspicious activity or had contact with Ellen since she was last seen to provide information, even if it appears minor.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District are continuing inquiries and are working to establish Ellen’s movements after she was last sighted in Wongawilli. Investigators are reviewing available information and following any possible leads that could assist in locating her safely.

Authorities have reminded the public that missing person cases can often be resolved quickly when community members share relevant information. CCTV footage, sightings, conversations or observations from local residents may all help police piece together a person’s movements and determine where they may have gone.

Police have urged anyone who believes they may have information about Ellen’s whereabouts to contact Lake Illawarra Police District or Crime Stoppers. Information provided to Crime Stoppers can be treated confidentially.

The appeal highlights the important role local communities play in supporting police investigations. Friends, family members, neighbours and members of the public are often critical in helping authorities locate missing people, particularly when there are concerns about someone’s health, safety or personal circumstances.

Missing person cases can be challenging for families and loved ones who are waiting for answers. Police continue to work alongside those close to Ellen while focusing on locating her and ensuring her safety.

Authorities are asking anyone who may have seen Ellen Lindquist, knows her current location, or has information that could assist the investigation to contact police as soon as possible.
