Northern Territory Police Force has seized nine firearms, illicit drugs and a range of prohibited weapons during compliance and enforcement operations at a property in Herbert. Officers from the Firearms Audit and Enforcement Section, assisted by the Fugitive Task Force, attended the residence after receiving reports of an unregistered firearm. During the inspection, police discovered unsecured firearms and more than 500 rounds of ammunition, along with a privately manufactured firearm, a homemade silencer, a flick knife and homemade body armour. A subsequent search warrant led to the seizure of cannabis plants, a trafficable quantity of cannabis, smaller amounts of co caine and THC oil, hydroponic equipment, more than $5,300 in suspected tainted cash and a stolen trailer. A 58-year-old licensed firearm owner and a 36-year-old man have both been charged with multiple offences and are due to appear in Darwin Local Court. Authorities have also suspended the firearm licence and urged anyone with information about illegal firearms to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
