Police opposed his release from custody, arguing that the alleged escalation of behaviour created community safety concerns. However, the court granted bail with strict conditions. These conditions included regular reporting to police, restrictions on alcohol and drug use, compliance testing and requirements to follow other court directions.
At the Macksville Local Court appearance, police prosecutor Sergeant David Sams told the court that Crane's alleged behaviour had become increasingly concerning. The court continued his bail but adjusted some reporting requirements, with Crane required to report to Nambucca Police Station three times a week.
