Broome's DNTL Code has officially celebrated the opening of its new, state-of-the-art clinical facility at the Broome Health and Wellness Centre, marking a significant milestone for healthcare services in Western Australia's Kimberley region. Although the clinic began treating patients several weeks earlier, the official opening provided an opportunity to thank the local community and showcase the expanded facility.
Located on Frederick Street, the new clinic forms part of the $6.1 million Broome Health and Wellness Centre, a major healthcare precinct designed to bring multiple medical and allied health services together under one roof. The broader development will eventually include a GP clinic, pharmacy, psychologist, physiotherapist, medical imaging providers, beauty clinic and café, creating a comprehensive healthcare hub for local residents.
The relocation represents a major upgrade for DNTL Code, which has moved from its previous Barker Street premises into a facility approximately 40 per cent larger. The expanded clinic increases treatment capacity from four to six dental chairs, adds two dedicated orthodontic chairs and expands dermal treatment rooms from three to four, allowing the practice to meet growing demand across the Kimberley.
Managing Director and dentist Dr Steph Mulcahy said the larger clinic was designed with future population growth in mind while creating a welcoming and relaxing environment for patients. The modern design features comfortable waiting areas, improved privacy and calming interiors aimed at reducing anxiety for people attending appointments.
The new facility also introduces advanced healthcare technology that was previously unavailable in Broome. It includes a specialised treatment room capable of supporting IV sedation procedures, allowing specialist anaesthetists to travel to Broome for complex dental surgeries and implants. This reduces the need for patients to travel to Perth or Darwin for advanced treatment.
Another major addition is the largest cone beam CT scanner north of Geraldton. The advanced imaging system provides highly detailed three-dimensional scans for dental diagnosis and treatment planning and has already assisted in identifying unexpected medical conditions during routine examinations.
DNTL Code also continues its integrated model of combining dental and dermal services within a single practice. This allows clinicians to provide more comprehensive treatment for conditions such as teeth grinding, facial muscle disorders and cosmetic concerns using a multidisciplinary approach.
Community members attended the official celebration, where the clinic thanked patients for their ongoing support following months of planning and construction. Practice leaders described the opening as an important investment in the long-term health and wellbeing of the Broome community.
The Broome Health and Wellness Centre is expected to become one of the Kimberley's leading healthcare destinations, improving access to modern medical services while supporting the region's growing population. Local leaders believe developments like this will strengthen healthcare delivery across northern Western Australia for years to come.
