Victoria Police have launched an investigation after the body of a man with suspected burn injuries was discovered in parkland in Melbourne's eastern suburbs.

The grim discovery was made by a passerby near Chaim Court in Donvale at approximately 4.20pm on Tuesday. Emergency services attended the scene, where the man was pronounced dead. Police confirmed that the deceased has not yet been formally identified.

Authorities said the man is believed to have been of no fixed address and may have been sleeping rough in the area prior to his death. Investigators are now working to establish both his identity and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
