A major section of the Stuart Highway has been closed following a serious crash involving a road train and a car near the remote sheep station of Bulgunnia in outback South Australia. Emergency services were called to the scene about 12:30am on Tuesday after reports of a collision roughly 100 kilometres north of Glendambo. Authorities have not yet confirmed the condition of those involved. Major crash investigators arrived at the site around 9am, with police warning the closure could remain in place for an extended period while investigations continue. Motorists travelling north have been told to stop at Glendambo, while southbound drivers are being advised to remain at Coober Pedy until further notice. The Stuart Highway is Australia’s main north–south transport corridor, linking central Australia with major freight and passenger routes across the country.
