Timber Towns Victoria (TTV) met with six political parties at the Victorian Parliament to present its three-priority 2026 Government Brief ahead of the state election. The group is calling for multi-year funding for rural road repairs and freight-critical bridge upgrades, statewide expansion of AI-enabled fire detection cameras that have already detected nearly 90 unplanned fires, and alignment of Victoria’s forest policy with the national Timber Fibre Strategy. TTV president Cr Karen Stephens emphasized the need for durable infrastructure, expanded fire safety technology, and a whole-of-government forestry and fibre growth strategy to support regional industries and communities.
