A 26-year-old Victor Harbor woman has lost her licence after an early-morning crash on Torrens Street on Saturday, 12 September 2026. Police were called shortly after 3:30am following reports that a Ford station wagon had crashed into a stobie pole. When officers arrived, they found the vehicle damaged and the light pole knocked to the ground, leaving electrical wiring exposed.

There were no reports of serious injuries following the crash. SA Power Networks attended the scene to make the area safe and deal with the damaged electrical infrastructure.

Police identified the driver as a 26-year-old local woman. She underwent a breath test and returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.143, well above the prescribed limit for driving. As a result, she was reported for drink-driving and issued with a six-month immediate loss of licence notice. Her vehicle was also towed from the scene.

The woman is expected to face court at a later date, where the drink-driving allegation will be dealt with through the legal process.

The incident occurred during the early hours of Saturday morning on Torrens Street, with emergency and utility crews responding after the crash damaged roadside infrastructure. Police have confirmed that, despite the collision and damage to the stobie pole, there were no reports of serious injuries.

The crash highlights the potential consequences of driving after consuming alcohol, particularly the risks posed to drivers, passengers and other road users. In this case, the collision also damaged public electrical infrastructure and required SA Power Networks to attend before the area could be made safe.
