Major Gold Coast tourism projects, including a massive hinterland zipline adventure park and a Mick Fanning-backed surf resort, have received multimillion-dollar state government grants. Two major tourism developments on the Gold Coast have secured significant Queensland Government funding through the state’s Tourism Icons Investment Fund. The projects include the Numinbah Escape Project near Springbrook, which plans to build what is expected to become Australia’s largest zipline course alongside camping, glamping and adventure tourism experiences, and the Palm Valley surf park backed by former world surfing champion Mick Fanning. Each project received around $4 million in state support as part of an $80 million tourism investment program aimed at boosting visitor numbers, regional jobs and long-term economic growth. The surf park proposal includes a wave pool, surf academy and future resort facilities, while the hinterland project focuses on eco-tourism and outdoor adventure attractions. Queensland Tourism Minister Andrew Powell said the projects would help strengthen the Gold Coast’s reputation as a major tourism destination ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympics.
